GCSE Media Homework - The News

GCSE Media Homework - The News Task 1: News values are points which make a story newsworthy, some examples are conflict, scandal and prominence. For example, a story which is more shocking and unusual would be more newsworthy than one that is seen many times and would not interest the reader. An example of prominence is that a death of a celebrity or well known figure would be more newsworthy than the death of someone known to few people. We can access news through papers, magazines, websites and television. Most newspapers have websites that you can access news from now, as this format is more popular and accessible to anyone that owns a mobile phone. News is also accessible on many forms of social media, this format is free and easily accessed, many people use this. GCSE Media Homework - Ideology

GCSE Media Homework - Ideology Task 1: Task 2: An example of a dominant ideology in our society is that everyone has the right to have an education. I agree with this dominant ideology because people should all have equal opportunities. This ideology could be challenged by some people having more of a right to education, such as boys over girls. Task 3: Headlines such as the one on the right could impact dominant ideologies in society by making people view things in different ways, something like welfare, that can help people that need it, may be seen as something the wrong people are benefitting from. Task 4: Capitalism - Views of believers - everyone looks after themselves and do not rely on other people. Socialism - Views of believers - everyone is equal and look out for each other, no person is above another. Communism - Views of believers - the community owns all property and each person contributes and receives. Socialists believe that everyone is equal,...

GCSE Media Homework - Creativity

GCSE Media Homework - Creativity Part 1: Define creativity 1. Creativity - creating something original by thinking outside the box and expressing your inner thoughts. 2. Creativity - the use of imagination or original ideas to create something. A. My definition and the official definition both describe creativity as ‘original’ and using your own ideas, however my definition talks about being different and unexpected whereas the official definition just talks about using imagination. In my opinion, my definition is better because the official definition just talks about being original, not different. Part 2: Creativity and Originality “It is better to fail in originality than to succeed in imitation” - Herman Melville I believe that imitation is not creative, it is merely copying somebody else’s creative idea, therefore the original idea may be creative, yet the copy is not. In both the music videos ‘Mr. Chu’ by Apink ( https://g.co/kgs/8C1sNW ) and ‘Russian Roulette’...

GCSE Media Homework - Gender Representation

GCSE media homework - Gender representation Part 1: Gender representation in video games I think the main reasons for this lack of equality in video games are that males are seen as stronger and more powerful than females and that studies have shown that video games with male characters sell more than with female characters. Part 2: Female oscar winners There is a wage gap between genders in Hollywood. An estimated 16 percent of women won oscars for playing wives, while only 2 percent of men won oscars for playing husbands. Six best actress oscars have been awarded to women playing sex workers, however no best actor has ever won for playing one. Average looking men can end up with supermodels on screen and it is completely normal. Women are taught to value their bodies and gender roles as mothers and wives over their minds. Part 3: Patriarchal society Patriarchal society - a system where men are in authority over women in all aspects of society. I believe...
